OPEN Teams with Helium Foundation to Advance IoT in Africa – Provisional EU 868 Frequency Standard for LoRaWAN for All of Unregulated Africa

OPEN led the way with our implementations in Africa and researched the ITU international telecom standards body and discussed with the Africa Telecom Union about our proposal for a pan-African frequency standard for LoRaWAN IoT networks. Helium agreed to set for a provisional EU-868 standard for all of Africa through for their global sensor data network. Helium Community voted in favor of accepting the one standard frequency for Africa through HIP 100. The intention is to have Africa leap ahead and the IoT vendors to build devices for one frequency standard, lowering costs and complexity of integrated systems for all African nations
